The Woman in White Various Locations in America. Her version exists in all cultures of the world.

A woman in white on a road at night, near a bridge, by a river, at the edge of a cemetery. Sometimes she is young and beautiful. Sometimes she is looking, broken with grief. Sometimes she just stands and stares. But she is always white, always a woman and always connected to something that went wrong a long time ago.
America has dozens of them. These are the most documented, the most real.

Resurrection Mary – Chicago, IL

This is the most famous White Lady story in America and it has the most witnesses over the longest period of time.
It begins in the 1930s on Archer Ave. on the southwest side of Chicago. Young men began to independently report the same experience, picking up a beautiful young blonde woman hitchhiking along Archer Avenue late at night, driving her toward Resurrection Cemetery, and then watching her disappear from the passenger seat as they passed the cemetery gates. Gone. No door opening. Not a peep. Just not there any more.
It was always the same descriptions. Young, blonde, white dancing shoes, white gown, pale blue eyes. If anyone touched her, she would be cold to touch.
The caretaker of Resurrection Cemetery noticed in 1976 that two of the iron bars on the cemetery gate were bent outward and had what looked like handprints burned into the metal — small handprints, pressed from the inside, as if someone had grabbed the bars and tried to push through. The cemetery took down the bars after photographing them and said they were damaged by a truck. Nobody bought that explanation.
She has been reported on Archer Avenue consistently from the 1930s to the present. Different witnesses, different decades, same woman, same road, same vanishing point at the cemetery gates.
